Kathryn D.

KatieDI’m a Kathryn with a “y” and since there are two of us, we can all agree it is the correct spelling. I’m a resident physician in Manhattan – which also makes me the nerdiest of the Kathryns. But when I’m not doctoring I return to my “normal” life of books, Central Park, my lovely friends, and eating cereal for dinner way more than one should!

Follow me and my pup @kateedean or @beandeantakesbaths.

Where do you live and where do you call home?
I live in New York City now, but I have lived all over; California, Idaho, Ohio, and most recently Chicago. Where I call home is yet to be determined. For now, New York is a good distraction (who knows, maybe it will turn into something more).

How do you make money?
Looking inside people’s bodies… I’m a radiologist.

Your favorite author(s)
Hands down, it’s Mr. Theodor Geisel – yes, Dr. Seuss.  No one has written more simple and beautiful words. “Kid, you’ll move mountains!”

Biggest pet-peeve(s)
Entitlement. Also, when people say “no offense” and then say something terrible. “No offense, but I hate that shirt.” It’s not a get out of jail free card! And Justin Bieber.

The greatest television show of all time
Arrested Development.

Your favorite book(s)
The Catcher in the Rye.

Name something on your bucket list
Cambodia! Someday I will get there. Oh, and to swim with dolphins!

What was the last book you really loved?
The House of God by Samuel Shem. A definite “right of passage” book for all residents.

What fictional character do you have the biggest crush on?
Jim Halpert (Pam, shmam).

Your life’s motto
Always behave like a duck – keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath.
